Deep East Texas Habitat for Humanity chooses its homeowners based on three criteria
- the applicants level of need
- their willingness to become partners in the program
- and their ability to repay the mortgage loan
Neither Race nor religion is a factor in the application process
If you can say yes to all the questions below, you might qualify as a Habitat homeowner.
- Have you been a resident of Angelina or Nacogdoches County for at least one year?
- Are you a first-time home buyer?
- Are you willing to partner with Habitat to help build your home and other homes?
- Can you prove consistent, stable income for the past 24 months or more?
- Will you allow Habitat to run credit, criminal background, and sex offender checks on you?
- Do you earn 50%-80% of the HUD Median income of Angelina or Nacogdoches County residents? (Please see chart below for reference)
